Soft Computing: Soft Computing widmet sich Systemlösungen, die auf Soft-Computing-Techniken basieren. Es bietet eine schnelle Verbreitung wichtiger Ergebnisse in Soft-Computing-Technologien, eine Verschmelzung der Forschung zu evolutionären Algorithmen und genetischer Programmierung, Neurowissenschaften und neuronalen Netzsystemen, Fuzzy-Set-Theorie und Fuzzy-Systemen sowie Chaostheorie und chaotischen Systemen. Dabei handelt es sich um die Verwendung ungenauer Lösungen für rechenintensive Aufgaben wie die Lösung NP-vollständiger Probleme, für die es keinen bekannten Algorithmus gibt, der eine exakte Lösung in polynomieller Zeit berechnen kann.
