Smart Grid: „Smart Grid“ bezieht sich im Allgemeinen auf eine Klasse von Technologien, mit denen Menschen mithilfe computergestützter Fernsteuerung und Automatisierung öffentliche Stromversorgungssysteme in das 21. Jahrhundert bringen. Möglich werden diese Systeme durch Zwei-Wege-Kommunikationstechnologie und Computerverarbeitung, die seit Jahrzehnten in anderen Branchen eingesetzt werden. Es handelt sich um ein System, das eine Vielzahl von Betriebs- und Energiemaßnahmen umfasst, darunter intelligente Zähler, intelligente Geräte, erneuerbare Energiequellen und Energieeffizienzressourcen.
