Supportive Organizational Culture and Employee Job Satisfaction: A Critical Source of Competitive Advantage. A Case Study in a Selected Banking Company in Oxford, a City in the United Kingdom

Banking jobs are becoming more and more lucrative and many people are joining the industry. Although numerous scholars have written more about the topic, many have failed to research into the banking industry on how organisational culture and employee job satisfaction can be used as a source of competitive advantage. This study investigates on how the impact of organisational culture on employee job satisfaction can be a source of competitive advantage. Using a case study method, the paper derives quantitative data from the employees of a selected banking company in Oxford, a city in United Kingdom. The selected banking company has four (4) branches in Oxford and it is the worst banking institution with few customers. The company has 100 workers working in all the four branches across Oxford city. A review of literature in two-fold: (i). Understanding supportive organisational culture and employee job satisfaction and (ii). The impacts of organisational culture on the employee job satisfaction as a source of competitive advantage are conducted. This is followed by a summary of methodology and data analysis, ethical consideration and conceptual framework. Empirical analysis was conducted to determine the effects of organisational culture on employee job satisfaction as a source of competitive advantage. The empirical findings show that cultural traits of communication, motivation, growth opportunities and supervising support in organisations tend to make employees shift mind set and help the firm in its competitive advantage. However, the discussion found out that employees within the company were not motivated enough to perform better due to lack of rewarding culture, growth opportunities (training) culture, communication and supervisory supportive culture.

Online trading over the stock market for the consumer indulges all the platforms of banking, commerce, money and resultantly discovers a ease to them. Online trading comes under the percept of E-commerce which has become a greater tool of ease in the universe at this jiffy. In India, there are few companies to offer such trading business. In fact, stock market business has expanded to such an extent which has never happened before. This has become an imperative to the success to all the organisations of online trading business worldwide.This research paper will concerntrate on the future of stock exchange through online trading and their Security rate of trading online.

Management Science and Student Perception: Application and Testing of Strategies and Learning Outcomes

Strategies in Management Science must be tested for validation to reveal if strategies are effective or ineffective. This paper is about testing the validity of two main strategies employed in our Management and Security Studies pedagogy: (1) the flipped classroom; and, (2) online learning. The “student perception survey” was conducted over two semesters between 2014 and 2015. The paper also provides a brief professional and demographic background of the students in Management and Security studies who are full-time working professionals in management positions in the security industry. Actual data for eight courses in Management and Security Studies was analysed to show if (1) Student Learning Outcomes were achieved; and, (2) whether Security studies concepts, flipped learning and innovative online strategies worked successfully when applied at the workplace.

Rural Manpower Utilization in Mgnregs in Dindigul District of Tamil Nadu

Many policy makers have recommended various measures for the development of rural India, since independence. Their study reveals that major portion of unskilled labourers is located in rural India. Mahathma Gandhi national rural employment guarantee scheme (MGNREGS) in Tamilnadu ensures 100 percent unskilled manual works. Dindigul district is an economically developing district in tamilnadu state. Where MGNREGS is being implemented well and where there is a history of distress migration, agriculture have not productive and looking at yields. Relating to age wise registered and employed persons, number of women beneficiary worker with account, category wise house hold workers to whom job card issued and who are active, Employment generated during the financial year 2013-14.

Morbidity due to Air Pollution in Cotonou: An Assessment of the Psychological Cost

Atmospheric pollution is a negative externality whose health costs are significant. In this article we assessed the psychological cost or cost of suffering due to pollution-related morbidity. The Contingent Valuation (CV) method has allowed us to estimate the average monthly psychological cost of disease for a household head based on the Willingness To Pay (WTPs) of household heads to halve air pollution in the city of Cotonou. This assessment is one of the few in the city of Cotonou or even in West Africa. The analysis of the WTPs with a Tobit model has allowed us to derive the average WTP, which represents the psychological cost of morbidity whose value is estimated at FCFA 1,200/month per household head. This result can validly serve as the basis for decision-making in line with the polluter pays principle.

A Critical Review on the Various Factors that Influence Successful Implementation of Knowledge Management Projects within Organizations

Knowledge Management (KM) is currently one of the hottest concepts in all industries. Driven by pressures such as increased competition, the need for innovation, need to improve quality of products and services and availability of new and effective information management tools, firms are increasingly investing in technology and humans with the aim of leveraging intellectual assets. Numerous scholars have shown that knowledge is an important resource to a firm as it contributes to successful organizational performance if well managed. This paper critically explores the various factors that influence successful implementation of knowledge management projects within organizations. A review of literature on the factors that influence success and failure of Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) implementation projects is conducted. This is followed by a summary of the crucial managerial and technological factors that support a successful performance of KMS implementation project. To understand this issue better, the paper derives qualitative data on National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) related to the subject matter. NTPC is an Indian power generation company and it is one example of firms that have implemented KMS recently. Content analysis is applied on the data and a detailed outline of the implementation approach undertaken by this company is given. The challenges encountered during the process, the technology adopted and the benefits derived from the project are also examined. The analysis of this company finds that the KMS project has encountered numerous challenges and some of the challenges have come from failure to incorporate some of the crucial factors in the implementation process such as the use of motivational aids. Organizations need to incorporate all crucial factors during implementation process and to find strategies to overcome the challenges in order to increase value of the project.

A highly skilled workforce is the aorta of any organization. It is this work force that creates a sustainable competitive advantage to the organization. Innovation takes hold. New products and services are conceived. All these can only be achieved through a skilled work force. Employees are the vital and immediately available core-competency, which the organizations should capitalise and leverage them to achieve competitive advantage.

Advertising through Sponsored Search and its Optimisation

The traditional organic searches have yielded a ranking based paid model by the publishers for better visibility of the advertiser’s offerings.Sponsored search is one such marketing technique which along with SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) that forms the umbrella concept of SEM (Search engine marketing). The paper tries to explore the current best practices that are prevailing in the marketing industry relating to this services and what are the dominant techniques to get the most out of it. For this we explore the vast area of computational advertisement to understand the techniques currently used to optimise the services for a better customer experience. Also we try to find whether the current popular techniques are the only ones that can be used for the purpose keeping in mind that most of them are focused to optimise the service to benefit the publisher earn revenues from user clicks. We try to develop a model that can optimise the service usability for the advertisers who are the users of this services by combining the findings of some past researches and also by proposing some new strategies developed by us. With the help of the dataset and existing practises we try to orient the focus towards the advertiser’s offering in alignment with the optimization facets of the current sponsored search environment.

This model we aim to develop can help the advertisers to get the most out of their advertising budget and time and generate higher revenues because that is what they really need from the services i.e. higher sales and not only higher clicks on their ads.

Efficiency of Selected Sudanese Cattle Markets: Multivariate Co-integration Approach (1995-2011)

The importance of the livestock trade to the national economy of Sudan is significant; however, Sudan was adversely affected by the global crisis through a decline in oil and other external receipts. The main objectives of this study is to investigates price movements among important livestock markets in the Sudan to explore their performance and pricing efficiency. The stationarity of data tested using the unit root test and then market integration was tested using multivariate cointegration analysis. The study found that most cattle markets were integrated with each other, which showed the co-movement of prices, and this indicates market efficiency in sense that efficiency means existent of integration and cointegration of market prices. The prices of Omdurman cattle market has effect on all cattle markets in Sudan in short and long run.
