Die Embryologie ist ein Teilgebiet der Biologie. Unter Embryologie versteht man den Zustand der Embryonalentwicklung von der Befruchtung der Eizelle bis zum Fötusstadium. Die Embryologie befasst sich mit der Entstehung, dem Wachstum und der Entwicklung eines Embryos. Zellen, die nach der Befruchtung entstehen, werden als Embryo bezeichnet. Nach acht Wochen kann der entwickelte Embryo als Fötus bezeichnet werden. Es gibt verschiedene Stadien der Embryonalentwicklung. Das Studium des Embryos wird auch als Embryologie bezeichnet.
