Recent Trends in Analytical Techniques for the Development of Pharmaceutical Drugs

Ravali R, Phaneendra M, Bhanu Jyothi K, Ramya Santhoshi L and Sushma K

Growing interest in the evolution of Pharmaceutical Drugs had made to bring certain analytical techniques into limelight. Many such techniques are used to extract, purify and characterize (structurally and molecularly), newly produced vital drugs. This review gives information regarding emerging trends in using various analytical techniques like HPLC, HPTLC, LC-MS/MS, etc.In development of newly producing drugs. The proposed methods were statistically equivalent and showed satisfactory results.

Novel Applications of Nanotechnology in Life Sciences

Vijaya Shanti Bheemidi, Mrudula Tiruckovela, Naga Deepthi Chettipalli and Sree Venkateshwarlu Yanamadala

The main focus of the review is to discuss about the most popular, expanding and promising branch of science and technology i.e., nanotechnology, its various applications in life sciences which opened up doors in several areas like diagnostics, drug delivery and tissue engineering. Nanotechnology is often viewed as a relatively young field, with tremendous potential to reinvent existing industries and significantly improve standards of living. Nanotechnology applications to the life sciences include pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, diagnostics, gene therapy, drug delivery and tissue engineering.

Production of Extracellular Pectinase by Bacillus Cereus Isolated From Market Solid Waste

Elangovan Namasivayam, John Ravindar. D, Mariappan K, Akil jiji, Mukash Kumar and Richard L Jayaraj

Pectin is a major component of primary cell wall of all land plants and encompasses a range of galacturonic acid rich polysaccharides. Pectinase or pectinolytic enzyme, hydrolyzes pectic substance, they have a share of 25% in the global sales of food enzymes. Production of this enzyme is affected by the nature of solid substrate, level of moisture content, presence or absence of carbon, nitrogen, minerals and vitamin supplements. Maximum enzyme production (44U/ml) is achieved when temperature is around 37°C, pH.8.5, pectin as a carbon source, yeast extract as a nitrogen source and incubation time is 36 hours. In addition to this, wheat bran acts as a better agro substrate and Magnesium chloride as supplement for better production of pectinase. The sequence analysis of 16S rDNA of the isolated organism was much similar when compared with gyrase B gene (gyrB) of Bacillus cereus. Pectinolytic enzyme is of significant importance in the application of apple juice industry in the current biotechnological era.
